Back to School!
(It’s almost upon us!)
Sunday, September 5th the last 10 am worship
service of the summer., we’ll celebrate going back to school with “The Blessing of Lunchboxes and Backpacks”.
If you carry a lunchbox and/or backpack to day care, school, or work, bring them to worship for the blessing.
Two more ways to help the community get ready for back to school.
Casa Chirilagua: Make a difference in the life of a child in Arlandria. Due to expansion of the Kids Club program, Casa Chirilagua is looking for 20 new one-on-one tutors to match with its Kids Club students for the coming school year. Through a partnership with Wright to Read, mentors will meet with their elementary student for one hour per week to read with the child and provide homework assistance. By being a caring, compassionate, and consistent mentor, you can help bring students back up to grade level and keep them on track. If interested, please contact info@casachirilagua.org.
CORE is opening a new location in Herndon next year and looking to connect with social service providers and other non-profits who serve under and unemployed adults so that we can recruit new students and volunteers.
