The Blessing of Lunchboxes and Backpacks
Back to School!
(It’s almost upon us!)
Sunday, September 5th the last 10 am worship service of the summer… we’ll celebrate going back to school with “The Blessing of Lunchboxes and Backpacks”.
If you carry a lunchbox and/or backpack to day care, school, or work, bring them to worship for the blessing.
Casa Chirilagua Needs “Kids Club” Mentors
Make a difference in the life of a child in Arlandria. Due to expansion of the Kids Club program, Casa Chirilagua is looking for 20 new one-on-one tutors to match with its Kids Club students for the coming school year. Through a partnership with Wright to Read, mentors will meet with their elementary student for one hour per week to read with the child and provide homework assistance.
By being a caring, compassionate, and consistent mentor, you can help bring students back up to grade level and keep them on track.

Two more ways to help the community get ready for back to school.

CORE is opening a new location in Herndon next year and looking to connect with social service providers and other non-profits who serve under and unemployed adults so that we can recruit new students and volunteers. **We’re still looking for pre-worship and post-worship volunteers.
Are you able to be here a few minutes prior to Worship or stay a bit later on Sunday mornings?
We’d love for you to volunteer to be a Greeter or Pre-worship/Post-worship Hospitality person. This is a fantastic way to get to know people and provide hospitality to others.
We’ve had individuals, couples and even families fill this role in the past so anyone is capable. And… you only commit to the weeks you are able. So if you have a busy Summer schedule, that’s okay we can work with that.
Let us know what Sunday you would like to volunteer or if you’d just like more information about Greeting or any other type of volunteering.
We have needs for Sunday mornings throughout August and September.

VBS School Supply Offering
VBS Offering:
We’ll be collecting school supplies (pencils, back packs, folders, crayons, glue sticks, etc..) throughout VBS and until Sunday, July 25th to donate to local children as they head into a new school year. Please bring all supplies to the church building this week and a VBS Leader will add them to the collection.
Last Night of the 2010 Vacation Bible School – Update
Tonight is the last night of the 2010 Vacation Bible School. We hope you’ll be able to attend the programming we’ve put together.
Please note that we have a slight change of plans in tonight’s schedule.
Tonight’s theme is Loving the Lord your God with all your STRENGTH
6:00pm – 7:00pm
Adult program: Strengthening our bodies with exercise. Cindi Rauert will be leading a blend of Pilates and Yoga. All levels are encouraged to participate. No experience necessary!
Children’s program (age 4 & up): Who are some real-life heroes? We’ll provide a light snack for our little Superheros so that they keep their strength up until dinner.
Nursery provided for age 3 & Under

VBS is Underway but you can still Join Us!
VACATION BIBLE SCHOOL is underway!
You can still join us on one
or all remaining nights.
We’ll continue, tonight, Tuesday and Wednesday.
Dinner is at 6:00 pm and
programs begin at 6:30 pm.
