This Week at FPC – September 26 – October 2

We are told in scripture that people will come from east and west, and from north and south and sit at the table in the Kingdom of God.  Friends, we are invited now to the joyful feast of the people of God!

On October 2nd we have a double celebration!  It is World Communion Sunday – a special day in which Christians around the world celebrate that we are, in fact, one in Christ.  We are called to remember that within the great diversity God has created in the world, “[t]here is one body and one Spirit, just as [we] were called to the one hope of [our] calling, one Lord, one faith, one baptism, one God and Father of all, who is above all and through all and in all.” Ephesians 4:4-6 NRS

And, our FPC family will celebrate with great joy as Amelia Paige Schaut becomes a child of the Covenant through Baptism!  Amelia is the daughter of Corey and Patrick Schaut.

Plan to be with us on this doubly glorious day!

And as you go through this week:

. . . Pray for all Christians around the world, that we may truly be one in Christ so that we may be a true exhibition of the Kingdom of Heaven to the world.

. . .And pray for all children, that they may live in peace and safety and “set their hope in God, not forgetting the works of God, but keeping God’s commandments.  Psalm 78:7 NRS

Question of the week:

What would we do if you knew we could not fail?

What prayer does this raise in you?

This Week at FPC – July 25-31

Give ear to my words, O LORD; give heed to my sighing.  Listen to the sound of my cry, my King and my God, for to you I pray.

O LORD, in the morning you hear my voice; in the morning I plead my case to you, and watch.  For you are not a God who delights in wickedness; evil will not sojourn with you.

The boastful will not stand before your eyes; you hate all evildoers.  You destroy those who speak lies; the LORD abhors the bloodthirsty and deceitful.

But I, through the abundance of your steadfast love, will enter your house, I will bow down toward your holy temple in awe of you.  Lead me, O LORD, in your righteousness because of my enemies; make your way straight before me.

For there is no truth in their mouths; their hearts are destruction; their throats are open graves; they flatter with their tongues.  Make them bear their guilt, O God; let them fall by their own counsels; because of their many transgressions cast them out, for they have rebelled against you.

But let all who take refuge in you rejoice; let them ever sing for joy. Spread your protection over them, so that those who love your name may exult in you.  For you bless the righteous, O LORD; you cover them with favor as with a shield.

Likewise the Spirit helps us in our weakness. For we do not know what to pray for as we ought, but the Spirit himself intercedes for us with groanings too deep for words. And he who searches hearts knows what is the mind of the Spirit, because the Spirit intercedes for the saints according to the will of God.

“When an alien resides with you in your land, you shall not oppress the alien.  The alien who resides with you shall be to you as the citizen among you; you shall love the alien as yourself, for you were aliens in the land of Egypt: I am the LORD your God.

So God created humankind in his image, in the image of God he created them, male and female he created them.

And Jesus came and said to them, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me.  Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything that I have commanded you.  And remember, I am with you always, to the end of the age.
